Kick off the festivities at the Red, White & Local Market in downtown Manteo, where local vendors, artists, and makers come together for a patriotic morning by the waterfront. Browse handmade goods, enjoy live entertainment, and soak in the festive atmosphere as downtown comes alive in celebration of America’s 250th.
First Friday in Downtown Manteo: July 3

There’s no better time to experience downtown than during First Friday. Shops stay open late, galleries welcome visitors, restaurants buzz with energy, and live music spills into the streets. Grab dinner along the waterfront, stroll through downtown with your favorite drink in hand inside the Downtown Manteo Social District, and enjoy the easygoing summer atmosphere that makes Manteo feel like home.
Charles Esten & The All American Summer Music Festival at the Pioneer Theater: July 3
Kick off your Independence Day weekend in downtown Manteo with an afternoon and evening of live music at the historic Pioneer Theater. The celebration begins with the inaugural All American Summer Music Festival from 3:00–6:00 p.m., featuring performances by The Ransom Brothers, The Chili Dawgs, and Brother Thunder. Bringing together Southern rock, coastal country, and high-energy Americana, this lively festival sets the tone for a memorable holiday weekend in the heart of downtown.
Then, cap off the evening with a special performance by Charles Esten at the Pioneer Theater. Best known for his role on Nashville, Esten brings his signature storytelling, heartfelt songwriting, and Americana sound to one of the Outer Banks' most beloved venues. Together, the afternoon festival and evening concert create a full day of music, community, and summer celebration in Manteo.
Celebrate America’s 250th: July 4
Spend the morning stepping back in time at Island Farm, where living history demonstrations offer a glimpse into 19th-century coastal life. It’s a meaningful way to reflect on the nation’s history and traditions as America marks 250 years.
In the afternoon, head over to the The Magnolia Pavilion for live music and hometown tradition. Local favorite Low Tide Jam will take the stage from 1:00–2:00 p.m. and return for a second set from 2:45–3:30 p.m., providing the perfect soundtrack for your holiday celebration. In between performances, gather around for the judging of the annual Apple Pie Contest from 2:00–2:45 p.m. and see who takes home bragging rights for baking the best pie in town.

As evening approaches, the celebration shifts to the waterfront for the Town of Manteo’s Fourth of July Celebration at George Washington Creef Park. From 6:00–9:00 PM, families can enjoy music from DJ Mixin Mike, children’s games, food trucks, and waterfront fun in the heart of downtown. Then, as the sun sets over the harbor, fireworks light up the sky at 9:15 PM in a dazzling finale to a day filled with patriotism, community spirit, and small-town charm.
