Set Sail in Manteo: Annual Regatta
Held on the last Saturday in July, the Annual One Design Regatta celebrates Manteo’s deep sailing roots and brings together young sailors and seasoned skippers for a day of friendly competition on the water. The 2025 event will take place on Saturday, July 26, at the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum, located at 104 Fernando Street.
This year’s regatta will feature the following classes: Optimist, 420s, Topaz (all youth classes), and Sunfish (open to adult sailors). Races will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, US Sailing Prescriptions, Class Rules, and official Sailing Instructions.
The schedule is as follows:
- Registration: 10:00 AM
- Skippers Meeting: 11:00 AM
- Race #1: 12:00 PM (3-minute starting sequence; as many races as conditions allow)
- Awards Presentation & Cookout: Following races
Entry fee is $30 per sailor and includes one dinner and a regatta t-shirt. Additional dinners and t-shirts will be available for purchase. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each class.
Not racing? Not a problem. Spectators can enjoy the view from the docks or a shady spot in George Washington Creef Park. Every seat is the best seat in Downtown Manteo.
